SOLO:

Indonesians celebrated the inauguration of Indonesian President Joko Widodo, in Solo, Central Java, yesterday. After taking his oath of office, the new president urged all Indonesians to unite and work together.

President Widodo said his government aimed to make Indonesia politically and economically independent but acknowledged tough tasks lay ahead. He wanted the south-east Asian nation, the world's third biggest democracy, to be self-sufficient in food staples sugar, rice and corn within four years.
