New Yale college in protest ban row

A human rights group has accused Yale University of betraying its principles by allowing Singaporean authorities to ban campus protests at its new liberal arts college in the city state.

Students in Singapore will have academic freedom, but under Singaporean law cannot stage protests on campus, Yale chiefs say. Some university staff have criticised the plans, as has the New York-based Human Rights Watch group.
