Poll success for 'justice coalition'

A LEFT-WING alliance hostile to foreign mining could hold the balance of power in Mongolia's new parliament, according to preliminary election results.

Led by the Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party (MPRP), the alliance gained more than 22% of votes. Neither of the two frontrunners – Mongolian Democratic Party and Mongolian People's Party – won enough seats to form an outright majority of 39 seats.
