Resignation of power accepted

KUWAIT city: The country's ruler has accepted the government's resignation, state news agency KUNA said, a step designed to make way for a new cabinet in the Gulf Arab state after elections boycotted by the opposition.

The elections, on Saturday, were the second this year in the oil-producing nation, where there has been a long-running power struggle.
