Silvio Berlusconi given four-year jail term for tax evasion

Former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi has been handed a four-year sentence after being convicted of tax fraud by a Milan court.

Berlusconi has the right to appeal the ruling twice more before the sentence becomes definitive and will not be jailed unless the final appeal is upheld.
