THE Obama administration dashed the hopes of geeks across the galaxy by rejecting a petition signed by 34,435 people calling for the US government to build Darth Vader's Death Star, the planet-destroying space station featured in the Star Wars films.
"The administration shares your desire for job creation and a strong national defence, but a Death Star isn't on the horizon," wrote the head of the White House budget office's science and space branch.
