THE White House is cancelling tours of the US executive mansion, blaming the recent $85bn (£56bn) in budget cuts known as the sequester.
The White House had warned the sequester would have a sweeping impact, causing long queues at airports, closing national parks and slowing the prosecution of criminals.
Despite those warnings, the White House and Congress failed to reach an alternative budget deal that would have averted the automatic cuts from March 1.
