Uncertainty over Megrahi’s status will fuel political row

THE future status of Abdelbasset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi now officially lies in the hand of Libya's new government, his brother confirmed yesterday.

Speaking at the Megrahi family villa in Tripoli, where the man convicted of the Lockerbie bombing is said to be comatose and close to death, his brother, Abdel Nasser al Megrahi, confirmed that all responsibility for his brother’s welfare, movement and monitoring would now be overseen by the leadership of rebel forces who ousted Colonel Muammar Gaddafi.
