On Scotland becoming the 'Saudi Arabia of renewable energy'

Your leader of July 27 repeats the much-trumpeted potential for Scotland to become "the Saudi Arabia of renewable energy". But do we really want to be? Who in Saudi Arabia benefits from the country's pre-eminence in oil production? Certainly not the ordinary citizen. The parallel situation in Scotland is that almost no benefit will accrue to the citizens of the country, while big business will gain huge, subsidised profit from wind farms. All we will get is a landscape blighted by these uneconomic monstrosities and their associated transmission lines.
