I read with excitement about the possibility of a marine national park being created on the west coast and trust the lessons from Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park will be learned (Coastal beauty spots at centre of campaign for first marine national park, News, November 18).

Can we have more, better toilets, better campsite facilities, more information, services and effective rangers keeping the place clear of litter? The last things a new park needs are shiny new offices, bureaucrats and severance packages when a modest rise in funding to local authorities will suffice.
