What a thoroughly healthy approach to the endless independence debate from your columnist Robert McNeil ("I'm thinking thin for a healthier tomorrow", The Herald, November 23).

He quite rightly eschews any in- depth consideration of the boring old economic and statistical arguments regularly cited by the protagonists on both sides of the debate, and instead wisely counsels your readers to "feel the fear (and do it anyway)" when it comes to voting in the 2014 referendum.

Many a true word spoken in jest.
