Anne Thomson asks to be corrected if she is wrong in stating that the head of the Church of England, the Queen, is a woman (Letters, November 22).
I am happy to oblige her. The Queen is not in fact the head of the Church of England.
That title was last used by Mary Tudor in the 16th century.
Since then it has been Supreme Governor, but today it has very little significance.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
