I fear RJA Hunter (Letters, February 5) has been mislead by a confused big doo, or woodpigeon, as, to repeat:
The cuckoo comes in April,
It sings its song in May,
In the month of June, it changes its tune,
And then it flies away.

RJA Hunter records hearing a cuckoo on Sunday morning and queries if this could be the proverbial first one of spring or if anyone was up even earlier.
I confess I was not up early on Sunday morning and so may have missed clocking a cuckoo.
I will try to do better next year.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
