Although the recent Glasgow University referendum resulted in a clear two to one majority against independence neither the Yes Scotland nor Better Together campaigns can take comfort ("Student vote brings in the big guns for campaign", The Herald, February 20).

Apparently only just over 12% of those eligible cast their vote. Considering many current university students will feature prominently in Scotland's future economic, educational and health arenas such a poor turn-out alarmingly reflects an indifference as to Scotland's future. Hopefully, this apathy will evaporate over the next 18 months when we will be faced with decision day on our nation's destiny.
