The General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) has not taken any decision in respect of the annual registration fee in 2014/15 ("Cost of registration fee to increase for staff", The Herald, March 15).

Indeed, the only decision taken to date is to freeze the registration fee at its current level for a fourth successive year in 2013/14.

Like all other bodies, we will continue to monitor our financial position and will make a final decision on the fee for 2014/15 around this time next year.

This decision will be taken by GTCS members following careful consideration of operating costs, asset levels and income from fees at that time.
