If you're going to break a record, it might as well be a good one.

For 50 years, the Guinness World Record for the longest period spent in the charts by a hit album was held by The Beatles. It was Please Please Me and it was in the charts for 62 consecutive weeks after its release in 1963.

Now, in the digital age, there is a new record breaker and she is from Scotland. The new edition of the Guinness Book of Records, which will be published later this month, reveals that Emile Sande has taken the top spot for her album Our Version which spent its 63rd successive week in the Top 10 on May 4 2013.

Sande is not the only Scottish success revealed in the new version of the Guinness Book of Records. Calvin Harris, who is from Dumfries, has also earned a place in the famous book for having the most top ten hits from a single album. Sande's record topples The Beatles; Harris's topples another great of pop: Michael Jackson.

You may not have listened to Sande or Harris. But whether you download, or still buy your music on vinyl, their records are worth celebrating.
