KATE Molleson must have been at a different concert to the one enjoyed by a full house at the Usher Hall. The Mutter Virtuosi’s rendition of the Bach Double Violin Concerto and the Vivaldi, left the audience clamouring for more (Herald review, later editions, August 27, and early editions, August 28). After two encores we debouched into the Edinburgh night thrilled by outstanding playing.

It was wonderful to see so many young stars in the making being supported by an older virtuose – how often does one see that on the concert circuit?

Ms Molleson’s comments about the dress code were cheap shots and frankly irrelevant to a night of sublime music-making.
