ALL credit to Andrew McKie for his splendid obituary of that great actor, Frank Finlay (The Herald, February 2).

I shared his surprise that such a figure should have gained such scant recognition from the public, as well as from the film and television journals, which should have known better.

Even in death, it was his misfortune to die within a day of Sir Terry Wogan, who certainly didn't suffer such a neglect of publicity.

From the time I saw Frank Finlay in that television masterpiece, Bouquet of Barbed Wire, I realised I had seen one of the finest of performances.

Perhaps his daughter and two sons, all actors, will have better luck.
