DAVID Stubley (Letters, April 27) in response to Professor Anthony Trewavas (Letters, April 26) repeats an anti-GM scare story which appeared in the Bangladeshi press about the failure of GM crops which was investigated by the authorities and found to be false.

And Indian farmers “have been driven to bankruptcy and suicide” by their government’s moratorium on GM crops in spite of their own committee giving it a clean bill of health.

Pakistan, Myanmar, Philippines and Vietnam are also adopting GM technology to improve crop yields and reduce input costs while India, like Scotland, is governed by luddites.
