I NOTE the recent correspondence on cycling (Letters, July 24 & 25). One of my regular walks, also enjoyed by others, is along a local disused railway track which is now part of the National Cycle Route, and I admire the grace and fitness of cyclists as they speed silently past; but I admit that my oneness with nature would be enhanced if many cyclists would disengage stealth mode and give a warning tinkle.

Regularly looking behind becomes part of the exercise and walking backwards is not an option.

CYCLISTS – health conscious, environmentally friendly people or selfish, dangerous individuals with no thought for road traffic laws or the safety of pedestrians? Try walking safely around Glasgow city centre and decide.
