AT Borders General Hospital to have my knee replacement checked, I was advised to go home, put my leg up and lay an oven glove with a tin of beans in either mitt across my knee to augment the effects of gravity. Could it be that Theresa May misread her briefing notes and that we are to receive a “breakfast dividend” to bail out the NHS?

It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
