THE song by The Proclaimers song, entitled "What do you do when democracy fails you?", written in the dark pre-devolution days of the 1980s, is equally relevant today. The Westminster Government has turned a deaf ear and a cold shoulder to the fact that Scotland voted overwhelmingly to remain within the EU, and that the Scottish Parliament voted by 63 votes to 30 against giving consent to the European Withdrawal Bill.

The Sunday Herald rightly points out that the the SNP's Westminster walkout was a game-changer but it is to the eternal shame of Scotland's Labour and LibDem MPs that they failed to follow them and attacked the SNP for standing up for Scotland.

And Scotland's Tory MPs, trying to bluster their way out of their own despicable position and led by a useless Toom Tabard posing as the Secretary of State for Scotland, should hang their heads in shame, and prepare to lose their seats. What do you do when democracy fails you? You make your voice and Scotland's voice heard.

Following the principled stance taken by Ian Blackford and his MPs in the House of Commons, thousands of people did just that and joined the SNP.
