ACCORDING to an article in The Architect's Journal last week, Glasgow School of Art Director Tom Inns has stated in a newspaper interview that the recent fire would be largely covered by the insurance. This will be a great relief to all of the supporters and fundraisers after the last fire, which required considerable funding by donations and the like.

With this weight off their shoulders, would it not be charitable on the board`s part to start a fundraising exercise to ease the stress and financial burden of the commercial and residential properties affected by the fire? I do wonder however that there must have been lessons learned after the 2014 fire, to be able to do this rebuild without apparent resort to the considerable additional funding on the last claim.
