GIVEN feminist support for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, I am at a loss to understand why Ruth Davidson and Nicola Sturgeon berated Boris Johnson for commenting on that cultural symbol of female oppression, the burka.

The politically-correct faux outrage included the ludicrous statement that fully covering your face and body is equal to wearing a crucifix, but they are strangely silent when it comes to supporting Muslim girls who refuse to wear it.

As a result liberal Muslims who suffer punishment from within their own culture are ignored by Scotland's iconic female political leaders who apparently fear being dubbed Islamophobic or being seen to agree with Donald Trump or Mr Johnson.
