I NOTE that the Clutha Vaults fatal accident inquiry will take place next April, almost five years and six months after the incident on November 29, 2013 (" Fatal accident inquiry into the Clutha helicopter disaster will start next April", The Herald, August 11). Such inordinate delay is unacceptable to the public and families of the 10 deceased and those injured. Surprisingly, many compensation settlements have already been agreed before any FAI has taken place.

The later Glasgow bin lorry tragedy also occasioned distress to families of victims involved. Surely, the relevant investigating agencies should ensure such delay and distress is unacceptable.
