Scotland should be proud of the fact that it has often led the way on national efforts to be greener and cleaner. But there is still a lot more that could and should be done.

A new report on marine energy highlights some of the potential benefits. The thinktank ORE Catapult says thousands of jobs could be created if major new projects got the go-ahead.

But the benefits will not appear from nowhere. The Scottish Government has to provide a power boost of its own: investment in the business and technologies that could make it happen.
