IT is good news that Fifa is increasing the amount of teams to take part in the World Cup, hopefully giving Scotland a better chance of qualifying (“Reagan praises Fifa decision on World Cup”, Herald Sport, January 11, and Letters, January 12). I would like to suggest in light of this announcement that our clubs stop or cut back on spending thousands of pounds on foreign players and start spending this money on training and coaching our own juvenile,

amateur and juniors, both girls and boys. Our clubs have had little success in European and world competitions with all these foreign players.
