NORMALLY, I respect the content of Bill Brown's letters even if I don't agree with him. However, I do not accept that Donald Trump is delivering on his pre-election promises (Letters, February 13). So far, he has issued a number of presidential executive orders at breakneck speed and only time will tell how many of these come to fruition. We cannot make a judgement until we see the outcome of his directives and I suspect that a lot of poor people who voted for him will be disappointed at the end of the day.
In the past, Mr Trump has shown himself to be a thin-skinned, arrogant bully as well as a pathological liar and I fail to see what there is to be admired about the man. One has only to view the TV documentary showing his disgraceful treatment of the residents on the Menie estate to see what he is all about. Add his vanity, flair for collecting trophy wives and his unpleasant comments on women, the disabled and Mexicans and it is not a pretty picture. Also, given his ham-fisted handling of his immigration policy, incompetence can be added to the list.
As to Mr Trump being democratically elected, Hillary Clinton clearly won the majority of the popular vote only to be beaten by the Electoral College system. The same applies to the United Kingdom, where the Brexiters are threatening our future despite the Tories only having about 37 per cent of the overall vote at the General Election.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
