AHEAD OF the SNP conference, the BBC reported this morning (March 17) that “Scotland stands at a hugely important crossroads” as a consequence of the independence referendum and Brexit crises. Forget metaphors. For Levenmouth residents, Thornton Junction is an actual “crossroads” to the national rail network from which we are presently blocked.

The reinstatement of the Leven rail-link represents a practical litmus test of claims of "the inclusive approach of the SNP working to build a better country". It should invest in this long overdue measure to address inequality and exclusion on the Fife coast. This decision lies not with Westminster, nor Brussels, but with Holyrood which has full powers over this matter.
