WE have had a series of calls to do two things recently. First, remove spending on roads and other infrastructure in tourist hot spots from local to central government. I can see that going down well with the usual suspects.

Secondly, some want to impose taxation on those many welcome visitors to Scotland’s beautiful vistas. That would be both brave and foolish. Who would decide whom to tax? How would these taxes be collected? Where would the money then be spent?

It would be far better to have voluntary contributions from happy and contented visitors. I have been to numerous free museums, attractions and events where such contributions are normal and subscribed to in fairly generous donations.

Indeed, such is human nature that people almost feel obliged to contribute.

AS someone who takes groups of tourists to Luss on a regular basis, something must be done about the toilet situation.

More coaches arrive in Luss from the ever increasing number of cruise ships coming to Greenock and other ports. The toilets are just not adequate and the 30 pence charge causes problems for tourists.

They do not have the correct coins and the change machine, when working, does not accept the new £1 coin. Also, the information about cost is only in English.

Tourists come from many countries where English is not understood. Why is there no information in Spanish German Italian and Japanese? Countries such as Switzerland have the necessary information in several languages. The Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park must improve this situation as, otherwise, it will just worsen.
