I WAS astounded to read that last Tuesday Ryanair had cancelled a number of flights to and from a number of European airports ("Stranded passengers sleep on airport floor", The Herald, October 12). On the same day, I flew home from Faro, Portugal with Jet2.com. At check-in, we were advised that there may be delays due to action by French air traffic controllers. However, there was absolutely no question of flights being cancelled. As it transpired, the delay was limited to 40 minutes.

Once again it would appear that Ryanair has taken unjustifiable action, blaming external circumstances, affecting the travel plans of many and with scant regard to the consequences.
