YOUR article (“Navy warship shadows Russian destroyer as it crosses UK waters", The Herald, November 21) fails to mention that the Russian naval vessel the Vice Admiral Kulakov and her supporting tanker transit in UK waters had been duly cleared and co-ordinated with the British side.

Nevertheless one is able to observe how some UK media outlets are trying their best to depict a routine transit of Russian ships as some sort of hostile activity.

Would these efforts to politicise a peaceful naval transit in UK waters help the UK public to grasp the significance of having good bilateral relationships in a volatile world or rather lead to misinterpretations and further distrust? I do hope that your readers know the answer.
