IF the Andrew Wilson Growth Report is to be published shortly, it can only be hoped the report covers the impact of the massive increase in energy prices from phasing out the use of gas over the next decade.

As renewable electricity prices are four times those of gas, there will be around a £15 billion hike in energy bills to implement such a strategy. Funding the £450bn capital cost of the extra wind turbines will mean an annual increase of £20bn in consumer costs to repay the Stock Exchange. The 35 per cent of Scots living in fuel poverty will escalate to 75 per cent of Scots. Why is there no voice in Edinburgh to champion those existing in such poverty ?
