I WAS interested to read about the savings that could be made using phototherapy for treating skin conditions. I trained as a physiotherapist in the 1950s at the Western Infirmary, Glasgow and ultraviolet radiation, or plain sunlight as it was called then, was widely used for skin conditions, healing wounds, ulcers and sores and providing sunlight to prevent rickets. To my contemporaries, the benefits of sunlight are nothing new despite having a fancy name.
