Oliver Mundell is probably best known as the son of current Scottish Secretary and Scotland's only Tory MP David Mundell.

The 26-year-old won the Dumfriesshire constituency for the party, and was also positioned second on the south of Scotland list for the Scottish Conservatives.

He has spoken of helping to deliver leaflets for his father, who represents the corresponding Westminster constituency of Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale, at the age of just eight.

The younger Mundell joined the Scottish Conservatives in 2012 after being inspired by the leadership of Ruth Davidson.

He had to overcome initial reluctance from his father in his Holyrood bid, with Ms Davidson intervening at one point to tell the politician his son was a "grown man".

Oliver Mundell grew up in Dumfries and Galloway, where he attended and was head boy at Moffat Academy.

He went on to study at Edinburgh University and graduated in 2012 with a first-class legal degree, specialising in constitutional law and legal theory.

He has since worked as a paralegal for oil and gas firm Shell and as a researcher for Conservative MP for Torridge and West Devon Geoffrey Cox.

Oliver Mundell was also involved in co-ordinating the Better Together campaign across Dumfries and Galloway in the run-up to the 2014 Scottish referendum on independence.
