Theresa May has chosen three pictures by schoolchildren from her Maidenhead constituency for her Christmas cards.

The colourful designs by five-year-old Isabelle Milnes, 11-year-old Jade Winsor and 11-year-old Sophie Brazil all show the famous front door to 10 Downing Street decked out withChristmas decorations.

Santa is seen flying his sleigh over the PM's residence, while a policeman smiles as children sing carols and the Downing Street cat stretches out under a Christmas tree.

The Herald:

The choice is in marked contrast to the Christmas cards sent by Mrs May's predecessor David Cameron, who often chose photographs of himself and his family for his festive greetings.

Downing Street said that Mrs May was following her annual tradition as an MP of picking cards designed by children in her constituency.

Inside the cards is printed the seasonal message: "Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Theresa and Philip May."

The children joined Mrs May on the steps of No 10 as she turned on the Downing Street Christmas tree lights.

Children from the Eliot Bank primary school in south London performed carols as charity workers gathered in the street to watch the spectacle.
