Nor is it today a town without its sybaritic charm. But on a midweek afternoon in April with a snell wind blowing along the High Street there are few lotus-eaters to be found combing the shops for hand-made chocolates, gourmet cheeses and adornments for the mantelpiece. Muffler sellers, however, of which there are a few, are doing brisk business.
