MSPs will next week publish a report on the Bannockburn 2014 festival, which US clan associations last year threatened to boycott.

Holyrood's Economy Committee yesterday signed off a draft report that is expected to highlight top-level Scottish Government efforts to shore up the event following fears it would disappoint US tourists. Bannockburn 2014 will be run by the National Trust for Scotland and celebrate the 700th anniversary of Robert the Bruce's victory over the English in July next year.

However, US clan associations warned it would not make up for the scrapping of another tourism event, The Gathering.
