Britain facing worst wave of strikes for a generation

UNION leaders warned last night Britain is facing the biggest wave of industrial action for a generation that could involve hundreds of thousands of Scottish public sector workers.

Schools, hospitals and other services will be hit by the dispute this winter, with an announcement on co-ordinated strike action expected to be made today.

The move is likely to follow a debate at the TUC Congress in London when unions will line up to attack the Coalition over its proposed reforms on public sector pensions.
