Call for action over sonic assault device

THE Community Safety Minister is being called before a committee of MSPs frustrated by a lack of action to ban a "sonic assault weapon" which targets young people.

The Mosquito device emits a high-frequency sound normally audible to under-25s in a bid to stop them congregating in areas such as shopping centres.

Members of the Public Petitions Committee backed calls by Scottish Youth Parliament member Andrew Deans, who represents Angus North and Mearns, to summon Roseanna Cunningham.
