Cosla condemned over care plans estimate

The body representing councils has been criticised for failing to back up claims of a multimillion-pound funding gap under plans to give people control of their own care budget.

It is not clear whether Cosla's estimate for the cost impact of the Social Care (Self-directed Support) Bill is real or imaginary, Duncan McNeil MSP, convener of Holyrood's Health and Sport Committee, said.

He added: "Our committee is calling for confirmation from the Scottish Government that sufficient funding will be in place.
