Deputy First Minister hits back after selling out claims

DEPUTY First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has defended the SNP against Labour accusations that it was compromising its policies in a bid to persuade the public to vote for independence.

Labour leader Johann Lamont challenged Ms Sturgeon on the issue after reports that Nationalists have been banned from using words such as "freedom" in the run-up to the independence referendum.

The pair clashed at First Minister's Questions yesterday as Ms Sturgeon filled in for Alex Salmond who was returning from an official trip to the United States.
