Eurozone reaching day of reckoning, warns Brown

GORDON Brown last night called on world leaders preparing for next week's G20 summit in Mexico to come up with a swift, concerted, global action plan for growth or see not only Europe condemned to a decade of stagnation, but also the world paying a fearful price.

In a rare foray into the political world since leaving office, the former prime minister warned that, as Greeks go to the polls this weekend, the eurozone is facing its day of reckoning and that even France and Italy might follow Spain in needing a bailout.
