The UK Government is hopeful dates will be agreed soon for Scottish police investigating the Lockerbie bombing to travel to Libya.

Ministers also hope similar arrangements can be made for officers working on the 1984 murder of PC Yvonne Fletcher to visit Tripoli.

During the secret visit of Scotland's chief prosecutor, Frank Mulholland QC, and FBI director Robert Mueller to Libya last week it is thought Libyan officials agreed Scottish police would be allowed into the country.
