Vince Cable has described Chris Huhne's dramatic fall from grace as an "epic tragedy".
The Liberal Democrat Business Secretary also expressed his sympathy with the former Energy Secretary's family who he said had suffered a "terrible trauma".
Mr Huhne and his ex-wife, Vicky Pryce, were both jailed for eight months earlier this week after being found guilty of perverting the course of justice.
