Labour hit out at SNP claim over use of word 'separate'

LABOUR have accused the SNP of "doublethink" over whether "separate" should describe independence.

Officials banned the term in the title of a Westminster debate following objections from the SNP, who say the word is pejorative.

But interjections by SNP MPs from as far back as 2006 show them calling for "separate" immigration controls, regulatory regimes and Olympic teams. A Labour source said: "One minute we're not allowed to say separation, the next minute it's nothing but."
