Labour wants hacking committee

SCOTTISH Labour is calling for a specially-convened committee to be set up at Holyrood to investigate phone hacking claims and media influence over politicians.

MSP Paul Martin, the party's business manager, will this week try to arrange talks among the party leaders to discuss the remit and structure of the committee.

The party has also called for a formal examination of the role of Geoff Aberdein, an advisor to the SNP Government, who is at the centre of the row surrounding the First Minister's relationship with Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation.
