Minimum alcohol pricing vote won

THE MOVE towards minimum pricing of alcohol took a huge step forward last night when the bill passed its first stage at Holyrood without a single vote against.

Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon led from the front on the issue and was withering in putting down Labour criticisms.

When Labour abstained on the final vote there were hoots of laughter from the unified support for the proposal, which the Tories and LibDems are backing.
