MSP uses new error system

HIGHLAND Conservative Mary Scanlon has become the first MSP to make use of the new, more transparent system for correcting errors made during Holyrood proceedings.

Last year it was revealed that First Minister Alex Salmond had corrected factual errors made in the Chamber but without drawing this to anyone's attention.

The Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee introduced a new system under which any change made to the Official Report should then be publicised in the Business Bulletin.

Ms Scanlon had said the cost of a scheme in Elgin to combat coastal erosion was "over £100 million". She has now corrected that figure to "more than £85m".
