MSPs’ Lockerbie inquiry bid fails

OPPOSITION MSPs have failed in an attempt to kill off the call for an independent inquiry into the Lockerbie bombing conviction.

The Justice Committee was considering a petition calling for the conviction of Abdelbaset al Megrahi at Camp Zeist to be subject to a full inquiry.

Labour’s James Kelly, Graeme Pearson, and John Lamont of the Conservatives, were in favour of closing the petition but were outvoted by SNP and LibDem members.
